AI for Good Fund – Funding and Support for Non-Profit Organisations

Application deadline: 9 November 2026

Rethink Ireland, in partnership with Google.org and the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, has launched the AI for Good Fund, a €1.75 million initiative supporting Irish not-for-profit organisations to explore and adopt artificial intelligence (AI).

The fund aims to help organisations build their knowledge of AI, identify practical ways to use it in their work, and adopt AI tools responsibly to strengthen their services and social impact.

What does the fund offer?

Selected organisations will join a 12-month AI Accelerator Programme, beginning in summer 2027. The programme will support up to 30 not-for-profit organisations and includes:

  • Grants of up to €15,000 to support each organisation’s AI adoption journey.
  • Four in-person learning days with AI adoption experts.
  • Six online webinars covering relevant AI topics.
  • Peer learning and opportunities to share experiences with other organisations.
  • Tailored, non-financial support to help organisations develop an AI adoption roadmap.

Grant amounts are subject to the Rethink Ireland Board’s decision and may be lower than the amount requested.

Who can apply?

The fund is open to eligible not-for-profit organisations with a legal structure, such as charities, companies limited by guarantee, trusts, co-operatives and other qualifying voluntary organisations.

Applicants must:

  • Be based on the island of Ireland and make their main impact in the Republic of Ireland.
  • Be an established, operating organisation rather than an idea at an early stage.
  • Have identified a problem or gap that AI could help address.
  • Have existing digital capacity to adopt AI tools.
  • Identify at least two staff members to participate, including one person in a senior leadership position or a Board Chair.
  • Have the time and capacity to participate fully in the programme.

The fund is competitive, and additional eligibility criteria and exclusions apply. Organisations should review the full criteria before applying.

How can you apply?

Applications are open until 9 November 2026 and must be submitted through Rethink Ireland’s online application portal.
